Scientists at work

Today Year 5 were challenged to investigate the thermal conductivity of different materials. Firstly, we covered 4 cups with different materials and left one uncovered. We then carefully poured in hot water into each cup and recorded the temperature. After five minute intervals, we recorded the temperature in each cup. This helped us to see which material was the best at insulating the heat inside the cup and which one was the worst.

As a class, we explored how these materials are used in Space and on astronaut clothing.
