We have been joined by an artist today who taught us all about painting techniques and horses through history!

Sarah Grant is an Artist and Art Teacher based at The Birley Studios in Preston. This year she had an exhibition in Preston, entitled ‘Small Horse’ which featured lots of paintings of horses. A lot of her work is about memory and she likes old colour photos which have a sense of nostalgia for the past.

She uses oil paint on canvas and wooden boards to make her work and likes to experiment with very thick paint and fast marks.

We worked alongside Sarah to create some fantastic acrylic horse portraits!
