Vacancy – Grounds and Maintenance Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Grounds & Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of our premises. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills and experience to ensure that all grounds and maintenance activities are carried out effectively and safely. This role involves supervising maintenance teams, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards, contributing to the overall appearance and functionality of our facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on grounds keeping and maintenance to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality across all site areas.
  • Plan, organise, and oversee maintenance projects, including repairs, upgrades, and routine inspections.
  • Manage schedules for regular grounds maintenance such as landscaping, gardening, and outdoor repairs.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors or suppliers as needed for specialised repairs or services.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, project progress, and equipment inventories.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in grounds keeping or facilities maintenance roles.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations relevant to grounds keeping and maintenance operations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.

This is a Grade 4 position SCP 4-6 (£25,949-£25,989 pro rata – starting on £13.45 per hour)

Hours can be worked flexibly.  Initially the hours are 10 hours per week but these could increase to carry out specific projects and meet the needs of the school.
