Year 5 and 6 Residential
In the summer term, Years 5 and 6 are setting off on their residential to Normandy in France. Here, we will have the opportunity to use our knowledge of the French language, learn about the role the local area played in the war and explore the human and physical geography of where we are staying.
We will be doing lots of fundraising over the next few months to allow us to but trip hoodies and to help to cover the costs of the trip. We will hold cake sales and a bring and buy sale- please be generous!
We are reading 'The Wizard of Oz' by L. Frank Baum. This is the focus of our English work on classic narrative literature. It has rich and unusual vocabulary in it and teaches about the importance of valuing what is within us.
Last half term, we read 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo. We enjoyed the dramatic scenes and discovered how powerful a cliffhanger ending is. We also used the nook to explore how an author can present characters in different ways and change our opinions over time.
