Intent Statement

Art and Design Intent

The intent for Art and Design at Lea Community Primary School is to extend children’s opportunities; raise aspiration; open children’s eyes to the world beyond their immediate environment and enable our children to live happy, healthy and productive lives.

Healthy lifestyle- to select, use safely, clean and store equipment safely.
Active lifestyles- be able to work with a range of materials to explore their own creativity. 
Problem Solving- To question and trial different techniques and be prepared to modify and change their work.
Performing Arts- To engage with real life masters and crafts people within our own community. 
Yielding Aspirations- To develop their own ideas and apply them using the artistic skills that have been taught and practised.

Children at Lea Community Primary school will be exposed to a range of artistic skills including drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles and 3D sculpture. They will develop confidence and be immersed in exploring their own artistic flair and creativity. These skills will ensure that children are able to create and showcase their own pieces of art. All children will also have the opportunity to practise a range of artistic skills through different media using masters and crafts people as a stimulus for their work.
